We celebrate the Gurpurb on 5th January 2018.
Guru Gobind Singh was the last of the ten Gurus, the one who transformed the Sikh faith. In 1699 he created the Khalsa (Pure),
a community of the faithful who wore visible symbols of their faith
and trained as warriors. Today the Khalsa comprises all practising Sikhs. Guru Gobind named the Guru Granth Sahib his successor.
Sunday School Shabad Kirtan participation
The two sessions enjoyed by the mainly Punjabi class children have set a regular format for the first Sunday each month presentation. Last eight minutes Shabad Kirtan time of a half hour Shabad Kirtan tailored for the children is given to a Punjabi class child. The pupil last time was Mehma who sang a Shabad with total confidence. Well done. This routine gives inspiration to every child to rise to this challenge of singing a Shabad on the stage.
The harvest festival of Lohri is celebrated with great enthusiasm by Sikh and Punjabi community. The event will be celebrated at Brent Sikh Centre on 13th January from 6pm to 8pm
