During a recent visit to our Gurdwaras, British Heart Foundation representative, Manjit Singh presented us with a ‘Bronze’ certificate.
His citation reads:
“We have successfully completed the bronze level of the social cooking project that we have been involved in. The aim of the project is to help us reduce the amount of saturated fat and salt we use in our kitchen.
This will help reduce levels of cardiovascular disease amongst the sangat. We hope to complete the silver level of the social cooking project next month, and go onto get gold in July”.
This accreditation was awarded after thoroughly examining our cooking practice and finding how careful we were with the use of fats, salt, sugar and so on. Clean surroundings, gleaming utensils and a spread of fresh fruit decorating our server hatch must have contributed for wining this prize.
